The educators were nominated by local high school students and during the awards program, both the students and teachers were recognized, and the students explained why these educators were chosen. Five employees recently received Rotary’s Pride of Workmanship Awards. They are: Physician Assistant Alex Carangelo with Central NY Brain & Spine Neurosurgery, Registered Nurse Laurie Depot with Mohawk Valley Health System, Utica Deputy Police Chief Ed Noonan, CABVI Manager Kimberly Scerbo, and Catholic Charities Facilities Manager Jim Smith.
The Rotary Club of Utica, along with several Rotary Clubs located in Western Pennsylvania and Rotary International, recently met to gather and sort firefighter gear from local area Fire Departments to send to the country of Kosovo.
Local Rotary Clubs recently honored six high school teachers for exemplyiing "Service Above Self". The honorees are: Megan Cappadonia (Proctor), Elizabeth Cissi (New Hartford), Melody Morris (Whitesboro), Tim Papienuk (New York Mills), Dwight Putnam (Notre Dame), and Kathleen Washburn (Clinton).
