  • President David read a note from Melissa Kehler thanking the club for love, prayers and support during her battle with cancer
  • Club members cleaned up Kopernik Park this past Saturday; Jerry Kraus is putting out a press release and a picture of the clean-up crew can be viewed on our website (https://uticarotary.org/page/rotary-news)
  • Utica Zoo clean-up is scheduled for this Tuesday, May 14, starting at 5 p.m.; meet at gift shop
  • The House of the Good Shepherd Spring Concert is Wednesday, May 15, from 6-7:15 p.m.; club members will be providing and serving refreshments
  • Turnbull Insurance, along with other businesses, is sponsoring a free shredding event on Saturday, May 18, from 9-noon at McGrath, Myslinski, Karboski & Nunn Funeral Directors on French Rd.
  • JoElyn Wakefield Wright announced Hope House’s inaugural awards dinner/fundraiser on June 6th at Breeze’s. The fundraiser is for Hope House’s capital fund and they are honoring Mark Wolber. Contact JoElyn for tickets ($50) or to sponsor a program ad.
  • New Hartford Rotary is holding a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser this Saturday, May 11, from 7:30-11:30 a.m. to benefit local charities
  • President David reported on the District Conference. He said it was relaxing, enjoyable and fun with lots of socializing and getting to know other Rotarians outside of our club and what the clubs do. He also noted that other clubs have trouble with club meeting venues and said our club is lucky to have a host such as the Yahnundasis; he’s like to see members support the Yahnundasis more by buying lunches on Thursdays.
Paul Harris Fellowship
  • James Turnbull presented Dominic Passalacqua a Paul Harris Fellowship to the third power as a sustaining member of Rotary International’s Foundation.
 
 
Program: Mary Centro from Village of Delta was not able to present as scheduled. Frank Fazekas Jr. from New Hartford Rotary spoke instead of the recovery of his father’s remains from Buysscheure, France, where his father crashed and died flying a fighter plane during World War II on May 27, 1944. The family thought he was buried in a Buysscheure cemetery but learned in October 2015 that was not the case; he was actually still buried with his crashed plane. In 2018, the remains of Frank Fazekas Sr. were returned to the U.S., and he is now buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
